Limmud Jerusalem - Volunteers Wanted
We have seen the future of Judaism, and its name is Limmud.
We invite you to become a part of this unique and rewarding Jewish journey, by helping launch Limmud in Jerusalem.
Limmud Jerusalem 2012 will take place on Lag BaOmer, Thursday May 10, 2012 from 9:00 AM to Midnight at the WZO Building on Har Herzl.
We are currently seeking volunteers to help join various planning committees and to fill a team of volunteers on the day of the conference itself.
What is Limmud? Limmud is a grassroots, volunteer-driven organization that brings together Jews of all types and all ages to learn with and from each other, and engage each other in fun and interesting ways. Limmud began in England over 30 years ago. It grew into the largest annual Jewish event in the UK and has spread to over 60 communities worldwide. Now Limmud Jerusalem will take place for the first time!
The learning at Limmud happens in many forms: from text studies or lectures to music, films, movement sessions, art activities or group discussions. Similarly, Limmud embraces "Big Tent Judaism" with an emphasis on a positive and contemporary embrace of viewpoints as diverse as its participants. In starting Limmud Jerusalem, we see an opportunity to bridge the gaps that have fractured our city.
One of the defining characteristics of a Limmud event is that it is volunteer-based. No presenters are paid, even those who earn vast sums to present in other contexts. Traditional hierarchies are dissolved at Limmud presenters are also participants, and participants are also volunteers.
If our mission speaks to you and you would like to help turn this dream into a reality, we would welcome your time, energy and talents.
